Olympic spirit is in the air as the 49th Olympic games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, kicked off on Friday night (Aug. 4) with the Opening Ceremonies. Dan + Shay were up bright and early on Monday morning (Aug. 8)—they were chosen by the ABC network to perform— showing their own spirit by performing a cover of the song “The World’s Greatest” on Good Morning America.
As Good Morning America was celebrating the dreams of young athletes from the field to the pool, the duo performed inside the GMA studio while images of people across the U.S. showing signs supporting Team USA flashed across the screen, as well as images of athletes performing in the games.
“If anybody asks you who I am / just stand up tall look them in the face and say / I’m that star up in the sky / I’m that mountain peak up high / hey I made it / the world’s greatest / I’m that little bit of hope when my backs against the ropes / I can feel it / Hmm the world’s greatest,” the duo sings during the chorus. How’s that for inspiring?
